Movable Tool Slide

I guess just a general rundown of what hardware you purchased as far as the aluminum extrusion rack, air actuators, solenoids, etc. Have you posted a guide on here or the Facebook groups by chance?

I have not assembled anything in regards to DIY guide. But I’ll make some time and see if i can help you out. It is a work in progress as i am attacking mutiple hurdles…fix one problem and two more arrise. Your gonna need a 3d printer for sure to go down this journey.

I’m not sure if I’m more impressed with the tool changing rack or the actuated dust shoe (engineering wise). I watched you entire video just to watch those two things work.

I have a Prusa that’s well up to the task :call_me_hand:t3:

Busy documenting, I’ll give you a heads up as soon as i run it all down. I’m assuming your after stl files for printing the tool changer section, or are you after the dust boot on the Z axis.

Yes, just need a list of what I’ll need to do the tool changer section. I actually installed the sidekick automatic dust boot from Ugly Dog Woodshop which works awesome!

Well I’ve been busy recreating this project. I’ve really got to start documenting my builds and making better notes. Lots of things that didnt work along the way.
As a result of this I have now built another working unit. You have any interest in buying it. I really don’t require two…

Actually I’m hoping to use your process as a jumping off point to make my own that will allow clearance for a full sheet of plywood for tiling purposes

Got it…no problem, I’ll finish up the details soon and get back with you.

You’re the man! Really appreciate it.

This is the last version of this experiment, as it is now working as expected. I redesigned the dust boot and added a bellows. It now has a double row of brushes

This is the bellows, this pretty much stopped the dust leakage

And a video of some random cuts

This is using a new spindle assembly, 3d printed with Carbon Fiber Filament, I’m also running Masso Beta 5.100b.

That allows me to control the dust boot independently

OK, I’ve got CnC envy!! That is probably the most effective dust boot I’ve seen!

Thanks, lots of versions were printed and tossed to get to this point.

Gonna do some Halloween carves to check it out.

Mike, you might want to check out Linear Tool Change 1 on a stable release. It supports the number of input/output accessories you’re using.

Wow, looks awesome! Itching to get mine setup. This will solve so many issues

I haven’t forgotten you. Coming to you soon

I like the independent control of the dust boot in the midi screen, which is in the beta. Also like the unlimited line limit as opposed to the 2000 limit. But
I might give it a whirl.

What did you think of the dust boot solution? That was just hooked up to an ordinary shop Vac.

I love it.
I didn’t want to ask for it due to my affiliation with the company and the perception it could create of stealing a design like we’ve had in the past.

There’s already the independent control of the Dust Hood with the stable versions unless I’m missing something.

Interesting, I missed that documentation completely.
Thanks for the link.
