I am trying to communicate to VFD from PC through Modbus. I have set the VFD to P0.0.03=2 and P0.0.04=9 to enable Modbus communication through upper computer as stated in the manual. I also have verified the communication parameters in P4.1.01=3 (no check 8-N-1) and baud rate match my upper PC settings. My issue is that I am getting connection timeouts…no RXD. Swapping A-B has the same effect. I am wondering if there is anyone who has had success establishing communication with their VFD through PC Modbus software like openModScan or FluidNC firmware. I am ultimately trying to control VFD with FluidNC CNC controller and need a greater understanding of the Delixi Modbus protocol. FluidNC also has the same timeout issue as my PC trial so I am starting my help request here as you guys are the experts with this VFD and documentation.
Does it matter which way the Auto/Man switch is set? What are the proper settings for Communication timeout P4.1.04? Manual contradicts itself…any value other than 0.00 triggers alarm 14.
We have successfully gotten BuildBotics, 1f’s Clone BB, SuperLongBoard, and SuperLongBoard-Ext communicating via Modbus with the Delix Em61 vfd.
A good amount of info is published in our SLB KB article here: Super Long Board - PwnCNC
You might be able to derive more from our 1f Clone-BB here: Onefinity Buildbotics - PwnCNC
The SLB’s KB does show more info like baud rate and other bits which are helpful.
The VFD itself is really simple in that if the settings are in-sync between vfd and controller… and the wiring is good… then it should communicate really well.
These vfd’s are used in a lot of industrial locations across Europe and Asia. Typical use for these VFD’s is mounted into giant control cabinets and wired into a bussing sequence assigning device numbers to a dozen or more VFD’s all in the same cabinet for communicating and controlling things like conveyor belts and such.
So i’m certain this VFD can do what you’re after, unfortunately I have not done more than initially described in my post here.
If you’re able to find any error logging or anythign beyond Timeout… that might help further.
Typically on 1f Clone-BB’s… when i see timeout, it’s due to a wiring issue. But that is super simple to troubleshoot and verify… so i’m not sure that’s particularly your issue here.
I’m sorry i couldn’t be more helpful. Keep pushing and working on it… and please post here. As you work through the issue… it might dislodge some bit of info in my brain or others… which ultimately helps you find the solution you seek.
