Carbide3d VFD conversion to Masso controller

I recently got the Carbide3d VFD converted with the PWN cables. Testing the VFD, it turns on with the spindle CW button and turns off with the Spindle start or the CCW spindle button. I also tried the MDI command m3, which did not have any response. I feel that not all the correct parameters are set. I can set the VFD in keyboard mode, but that is not ideal. I do have the manufacturer manual as a reference.

Nice! What cables are you using? Are you using the full carbide3D spindle + VFD, or just the VFD?

The cables were purchased from Pwncnc. The VFD and spindle are Carbide3d products. Carbide modifies their VFD by adding electronics. I would assume that is because the Carbide controller is based on an inexpensive design

That is an awesome upgrade right there.
We can certainly help with documentation…if you didn’t write something up on this.
If you wanted to take it a bit further and attach our shielded spindle power cables… this is where you can find the panel connector for the vfd side: Spindle Connectors – PwnCNC

If you wanted to modify your existing spindle cable it can be found here: Spindle Connectors – PwnCNC

If you need the spindle motor side connectors they can be found here: Spindle Connectors – PwnCNC These are typically the H20 for 80mm and H17 for 65mm motors.

I would happily document the conversion once I get the VFD functioning. I have not programmed a VFD, so I look for sources that have done it. As of the present state of the VFD, it will respond to commands as m3 stops the motor and m5 starts the motor, which is opposite from what it should be doing. I know the settings are for the Carbide controller and its special electronic connection. What I am looking for are settings for the Masso controller.
