What kind of wire do I need to hook up the 220 V outlet to the 20 amp breaker for my 2.2 kW 220 V water cooled PWNCNC’s spindle system

I just received my new spindle system which has the 2.2 kW 220V ER20 80mm 2-pole 400hz water cooled spindle. I’m installing a 20 amp 250 V NEMA L6–20R flush mounting, locking industrial grade receptacle and wiring it to a homeline 20 amp 2 pole circuit breaker. What kind of wire do I need to connect the receptacle to the breaker? I’m gonna have a professional do it, but I want to have everything so that he can come in and do it quickly

If you actually want to handle 20A then 12AWG.with 2 conductors plus ground. SOOW is great as hookup from power outlet to the system, it’s the rubber/neoprene-sheathed stuff that can withstand some abuse, but other cable rated for 250v or higher will work too. Some examples (random google hit): Premium Power Cables & Portable Cords for All Industries

The professional will undoubtably have the wire in his truck. If you are actually having a professional do this make sure that the breaker is the same brand/type as the others in the box as code may require it.

I will add that the breaker can be GFCI… but make sure the outlet is not.
I know this applies more to 110v outlets than 220v… but wanted to make sure it was mentioned in case anyone comes across this post later.
