I’ve been using a 2.2 220v spindle water-cooled for years. And the machine is stationary. But now I need it to be on wheels and the point to get to all the cables and extension cords.
My question is, did anyone here have a control box where you can only plug a 220v cord and have a spindle, water pump, Onefinty black box, and monitor running? I would like to know if any documentation exists to create an on/off and emergency switch to the VFD.
I’d recommend at a minimum use a 220v cord for the spindle and 110v cord for the other stuff.
This is what i end up doing on a lot of my machines. We don’t push them very hard (like trying to acquire the fastest speeds-n-feeds on the densest of materials).
The amperage is what’s important there.
Now… i don’t know much about the 1f blackbox power supply, but on our Dominator’s PS, there’s a switch to flip it between 110v and 220v as your power source.
I’d assume there’s a switch somewhere inside that allows for that since 1f ships internationally.
We’re looking into 220v IoT power strips but have yet to find a good one.
That said… I’m a computer engineer not an electrical… but i’ve heard there’s ways to “split” a 220v into a 110v circuit but have never done it nor seen it done.
Not sure all this helps but hopefully it’ll give you more info to go on.
Side note… be sure if you’re putting your machine on wheels that you find a secure way to set it when in use. Those leveling wheel casters are an excellent choice as they have wheels that retract when not in use. The steady ground is good for CNC machines in their accuracy and carving speeds.
More wiggly the slower you have to run the machine to get good results.
