I made a mistake and the result was that a running tool nicked the top of one of my tool holders that was in its rack.
It only damaged the top of the tool holder.
Actually, when it hit, it unscrewed the part and flung it a few feet. I couldn’t believe it when I saw it, but it just unscrewed it - the threads in the tool holder and the threads on the top part are both perfect. It did gouge that top part and I won’t risk trying to reuse it.
Does anyone know where I can find that part? A look online didn’t show anything. Not a big deal, but I hate throwing away the rest of the holder just for that part.
Also, it got me thinking about maintenance. Do those parts need to be periodically checked to make sure they are tight or does a CW spin of the spindle self-tighten it? That’s all the bearings are grabbing onto so I’d hate to have one unthread and fling the tool.
Thanks for your help.
