Shapeoko 5 Pro Tower Light Modification

I bought the Tower Light and discovered I didn’t really have a lot of room to mount it like I have seen others do. I was stashing it underneath my workbench and thought there has to be a better way to do this. So, I looked at the left side of the X gantry and decided I could modify the existing cover to have a shelf and then mount the Tower Light to it. Which is what I did. I basically re-created the left side cover (Carbide would not send me the CAD drawing) and then added the shelf you see here in Fusion 360 and created an STL file to print on my 3D printer. I created a gap in the shelf to allow for the wiring to fit through. I also bought a GX12 5 pin male to female connection to add a little more slack overall. Now, the light moves with the gantry and is visible at all times.

Cool!
I attached mine to the wall, although i had to also create an extension cord for the wire.

I thought about that as well, but my wall space was at a premium. Finding, or making, an extension cord for the wire would have been tough. I have PwnCNC to thank for letting me know the sizes I needed and where I could find them.

Found one on Walmart.com

I understand the lack of wall space, before i had it here, i had it on the back side of the table. I still found the extension cable needed because it was the shortest wire plugged into masso.

Im not trying to take away from your location though because it is pretty cool, and ultimately as long as it works for you, that’s the important thing
