Powering the Pond Pump On and Off

I didn’t anticipate exactly how the pond pump was going to work. From what I’m gathering, the pump doesn’t turn on automatically when starting a carve, I’ll have to manually turn on the pond pump every time I start a carve. Is that right?

A few questions:

-Is there a way to automatically start the pond pump when a carve starts without a chiller?

-Is it ok to just leave the pond pump running while the spindle isn’t?

-What set ups do people have to easily turn the pond pump on and off?

Thanks for your help!

Yes. You will need to provide 22/2 wire, which can be purchased Here

I have mine plugged into always on

My outlet is chest high and within reach next to my machine

I could be wrong, but if you happen to have a Masso controller and Onefinity PSU, I think you can plug the pump into the vacuum outlet on the back of the PSU and automatically power it on and off with gcode.

We’ve had someone say doing that backfired on them.

With the iot strip when ever the spindle is above 5500 rpm or if you have the iot mos, it triggers the outlets automatically.

I have my dust collector plugged into normally off, and pump in always on, and if my dust collector doesn’t turn on, i know something is wrong.
If that wasn’t enough i also have an inline pulse flow meter

I’ll test it once my ATC system arrives (my machine is offline until then). I’ve got my dust collector on a remote trigger as it’s 220v.

Any idea why it failed for the person you know?

I don’t. He just said he looked down an hour into his carve and the coolant flood button was not lit up.

Good to know. I’ll be vigilant. I always use a flow indicator too. I’ll report back here once I’ve had significant testing.
