Onefinity Z-20 slider hole position for PWN 1.5kw ER20 80mm spindle

I am awaiting the PWN 1.5kw ER20 80mm air cooled spindle. Soliciting advice on which hole position I should use on a Onefinity Woodworker Elite. Before I upgraded to the Elite, I used the middle hole (3 holes from which to choose) with the Onefinity Z-16 slider and Makita router. With the Z-20 slider I now have 4 holes from which to choose. Anyone using this combination or similar? Which hole did you choose?

If you also had a Foreman, I would have gone into a long speech about how “it depends” on if you want to have your plate be your limit, or your longest bit. Being that you have 35mm Y rails, I would say use the bottom holes to mount it.

I have a Foreman, on 3/4" plywood, using 1" MDF for my wasteboard. Having the woodworker your considerations are less worry some.

Spindle position and installation

Chris,

I appreciate your thoughts. I cut 3/4” and thinner stock for my projects. I am probably overthinking it, but wanted to check the knowledge base before installing the Z-20 mounting plate.

The PWN spindle should arrive this week. Looking forward to the advanced features of the Elite upgrade, Masso controller and ditching the Makita palm router for the spindle.

Word of the wise, re-orient your x oil port to the rear.

If you’re not dealing with overly thick stock, probably mount it in the top holes bringing as low as possible. If there’s no need for it, there’s no need to maximize clearance…

Chris,

Thanks for you input. Looks like the top mounting hole location would be best for my application.
