I’m just getting started learning all I can about PWN spindles.
I am considering a 110v air cooled 65mm and VFD.
I have upgraded to the Z20 slider in preparation.
in regards to the Onefinity x50 woodworker and the build botics controller.
if you hit the “E” stop on the controller does the spindle automatically stop?
Also I have read about relocating the control Keypad? what is that about.
I am fairly new to CNC work (about 18months) but have already gone through my first Makita router.
also mounting the VFD so it is accessible from the front of my CNC table.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
Mike
BTW I am also thinking I will pair my spindle with the V7 dust boot.
As long as you have an 80mm mount, you can use a 65mm v7 along with a shim to reduce that size. There is no other configuration where the v7 will work on the z20.
I believe it should stop on estop, yes. I haven’t done it myself though, but it should put it in a feedhold status, and stop the execution of gcode at which time it would spin down to a stop.
The keypad is the interface that is used to get feedback from the VFD and it’s how you interact with it. The keypad mount would allow you to move interface anywhere you’d like with a cat5 cable or greater. We sell them as keypad extension cables. Without the cat5 or greater cable you can’t detach the keypad from the VFD, without a keypad mount, you can’t have a dedicated place for it.
Thanks Chris,
I might not have been clear.
My Z20 has the 65 mm mount with a makita router currently attached. So will the V7 work with that?
Also if I mount the VFD close to the front of my table I shouldn’t need the keypad extension?
Pretty sure it won’t. I’m assuming the clearance is similar, but we don’t have a z20 65mm mount, so I’m flying blind on reasonable assumptions.
We have someone else wanting a z dependent boot with a 65mm Z20, but I haven’t been able to adapt the v10 yet. It was put on my to do list Friday and I have a mock up, but need to get it production pretty before calling it a potential working prototype. I want to get the prototype ready for validation this week, but I had other things I wanted to get done today too.
That is very interesting, thank you for the update.
One reason I went ahead with the z20 65mm was because I heard there were issues with the z16 and a 65mm spindle. In the coming weeks I plan on ordering a 65mm 110 air cooled spindle/vfd, and want to upgrade my dust boot at the same time.
I really like the design of the v7 dust boot.
