It doesn’t look like Lua scripting is in 5.10. I’m looking forward to that feature.
When implemented g-code M6.1 will also be useful, as right now I don’t think there is anyway to tell MASSO the spindle has no tool. Seems like we’ll have to wait for that one too.
In the meantime you can write your own script, and save it as gcode.
I have a folder on my thumbdrive and use it for a keyhole toolpath… left, down, right, left, up, back and out of the way. I have 2", 2.5", 3" and 4" which i use fairly regularly. I imagine if it’s an on screen thing itll be limited in functionality, much like the F5 screen, which is really only good for flattening
Without this, there isn’t a way to load “no tool”, but personally i don’t see the practical application. With ATC it’ll load the next tool if it’s not the one already loaded. If it’s a traditional spindle does taking it out save time? Id argue it takes more time if using the same bit
Yep. I have a Keyhole file too. I keep these kinds of g-code scripts in a folder named “reusable”.
With Lua I’d like to add a script to remove my dust shoe before the tool change. I think I have to wait for Lua because of the triggers it will bring. I’m not aware of any triggers to run custom g-code scripts.
I was planning on using M6.1 with my spindle warm up script. I read somewhere that warmup should be done without a tool in the spindle.
I just got v5.10 installed and I’ve started to use it. One nice improvement is a dramatic reduction in the delay when running a TnM6 command from the MDI Command window. The MASSO used to wait more than a second before responding to the command (v5.07). In v5.10 it responds almost instantly. This is very nice. In v5.07 the delay was so long that I sometimes questions if I pressed the run button.
First time using 5.10, and I noticed this too… pretty cool, and a nice improvement, since it doesn’t need to stall waiting for the “what bit do i have installed” portion.
The other day i experienced an anomaly where the chuck clamp went high during a change but the PE didn’t resoind accordingly. It’s weird i got it on video where it wouldn’t, so i got the chuck clamp error, then id push the button, itd work, so then i insert chuck clamp and it would work, so then i go back and do txm6 and it worked. All in a single take.
I contacted masso with the video but that was no help as they were pointing out what i already knew and suggesting i raise the pick and place height
Hi Chris. I’ve been away for the past 2.5 weeks. However, before my trip I didn’t experience any problems with 5.10. I’ll be sure to post here if I do.
