I must have tried 50 times to get into the MASSO update screen by tapping after power up. No luck. I’ve tried fast tapping, slow tapping, tapping when my other hand flips on power, waiting until I see the message about tapping at the bottom of the screen. Any suggestions for how to get in to the software update screen?
I guess I posed too soon. But here is what I learned.
- Remove the thumb drive. With the thumb drive out, I got in 5 out of 5 tries. With it in I never got in with more than 50 tires.
- One tap after the message at the bottom of the screen about tapping and F1 is enough to get in. More don’t hurt.
Thank you for posting. Do you happen to have a stylus? i wonder if your fingers have gotten to the point where they’re not registering properly with the touch sensors in the monitor.
I’ve had to adjust the tilt of my fingers in the past year when using my phone as there are just “dead” spots on my thumbs now with all the work i do these days with my hands.
Given my 100% success rate with the thumb drive removed I don’t think it was an issue with the touch being registered. I’m happy to be wrong though. I’ll give a passive stylus a try to see if it acts any different.
@Daniel I found an old 5 mm passive stylus. After testing it to confirm it would register touches on the MASSO G3 Touch I tried to get in to the software update screen 20 times. All 10 attempts with the thumb drive installed failed. All 10 with the thumb drive removed passed. My tap rate was about 2 times per second. I was tapping continuously while using my other hand to cycle power. These tests were done with v5.10 installed (not the beta).
I’m curious if others can get into the software update screen with the thumb drive inserted.
I only tried once after having read your experience, and didn’t. My Masso is in Landscape, so I have to use the keyboard for anything, I did only hit the F1 key one time.
I removed the thumb drive and banged on the F1 key like I was trying to get into the UEFI and I was able to get in.
