Using the ER20 collets where they just screw down rather than having an internal ring, sometimes the collet gets a bit jammed into the tool holder.
I can think of some ways I might make a jig, but I wondered if there’s already a standard/trick to simplifying this?
Hi Michael,
I’m not 100% sure what your objective is, but if I understand you correctly, hold the nut in your hand, and push away with your thumb. If it doesn’t snap out of the ring, rotate the nut 90 degrees until it does. You don’t need to exert a lot of force to unseat the collet, but if you find yourself trying way too hard just rotate the nut and try again.
When I have had this happen I would give a little tap to the side of the collet with the wrench and it popped loose.
I use a tool holder that grips the outer flange of the iso20 tool holder and use the collet nut wrench to loosen the collet. The wrench has two flats that engage the er20 collet slot and loosens and removes the collet from the tool holder.
Do you know the source/name of the tool?
