Thoughts on Making Forum Public?

I’m bumping this back up to the top. We’ve decided it is in the hobby’s best interest for us to make our forum public.
Way back in 2019, when i started PwnCNC, i didn’t like all the ways information was obscured and hidden. I would spend hours and hours trying to track down the information that allowed me to grow as a maker. This is the primary reason our 3d models were available for free on thingiverse way back then. I started selling them only because of overwhelming customer demand. Customers wanted to support my efforts in order to keep my efforts going.

The only reason the forum was private was because of maliciousness and trolling… although their efforts did guide some decision in the past… no more.

I want PwnCNC and our community to be open and available. I want to encourage the love of making with CNC machines, 3d printers, Lasers, etc. I believe the free and fair exchange of ideas is paramount to how i see the hobby cnc market growing into the future.

I have so many ideas to improve the market for everyone across the spectrum. I’m still working on how to articulate that and share those ideas broadly. Soon i will start sharing more of those ideas, but a few key chess pieces need to be moved into place first.

For my next move, I’m going to open up this forum to the public read-only. Posting will still be limited to forum members but reading will be available.

I will modify the public readability of the forum at the end of this month… August 31st.
