Thoughts on Making Forum Public?

cool, thank you. i didn’t know the forum could do that.. LOL

I believe this is the exact reason why “they” censor their forum so heavily. Nothing negative is allowed to be mentioned as it’ll ruin SEO/AEO results which they’re are heavily focused on.

Another reason i brought it up here is… IF we all agree that going public is the right thing to do for this forum… then this is an opportunity to delete any posts that people would feel uncomfortable having public… or changing their username to something less identifying, etc.

Over the years, hopefully, the community knows that Pwn and I are not here to take advantage of anyone. We’re not here to get-rich-quick or be as greedy as inhumanly possible. I truly believe in the good in people making up our hobby cnc community. Pwn is a place that I’ve been blessed to be able to quit my day-job a few years back in order to help full-time in guiding vendors (to develop features we all want), developing products, encouraging other makers, and generally be a positive influence. This sort of behavior will always draw trolls that want to tear you down and try to “reveal” your as horrible as they are.
Yes, PwnCNC is a company here to make money, but I’m doing my best to make sure it’s a company that is representing all us. Encouraging development in products that help us all… using it’s size and influence (however small it is now) to push for advances in the areas of our hobby that help more people.
As Pwn grows I’m hoping to use more of that influence in more ways that are positive and help push our hobby cnc community forward. This is where forums like this are vital. Interaction is vital to knowing what we should push for.
These discussions we’re having here for features, new products, problems encountered, etc… making them publicly readable so AI and search engines can read it only increases awareness of PwnCNC which, in turn, increases our influence to make positive change.

Well said, Daniel. Thank you.

When I do a search for Hobby CNC and Accessories I don’t even see PwnCNC listed. The first page is primarily the competition along with companies like Toolstoday. I think everyone will have a different outcome, but when using four different computers belonging to three different people, PwnCNC doesn’t even come up, for me, on the first page.

I don’t see Tools Today but I know of them from previously searching for other things. I would think that search results are not constant (unless paid for SEO, possibly) I have no idea why you do not see PwnCNC in your results. I don’t see them either now so something has changed. Certainty of exposure in the first 5 results requires something more than random hope. It is way outside of my experience.

It never dawned on me that PwnCNC would not show up if I did a search with “CNC Accessories” listed. I have just always known of PwnCNC for their spindles and accessories. Most of this info came from mentions on facebook posts and YouTube video. That is why I ordered my spindle from them when I needed one. It is also why I ordered the Dominator when I sold my Elite Foreman. There was never a doubt about ordering from PwnCNC. Referrals have been very good. Even by you know who. That is until you know who went nuts and shot themselves in the foot (IMHO).

I guess we need to bring it up more. I have several private groups where I can bring it up. Especially now that the Dominator is shipping.

@ Daniel. Would it be ok to mention to Mark Lindsey that he should look into having you on as a guest for his Sunday live and his Monday night private group? He has a large membership in his members only group. He is always asking who we would like to see.

Word of mouth is always going to be effective. Personal recommendations carry far more weight than generic advertisements. You’re mentioning the company to groups where PwnCNC is unknown, will likely have a positive impact on the customer base for PwnCNC.

I always recommend my friends and acquaintances to PwnCNC, based upon my own experiences. If they wish to see my system working and want to try it for themselves, I am happy to be that conduit.

I am currently committed to an agreed upon 336 hours of instruction, for a relative who has never had any CNC experience. We are slowly working through all of the information that he needs to understand to purchase his own system and work safely. This approach is likely to be more effective than a generic advertisement from a random business with which one is unfamiliar.

Good point. I suspect that Paid “branded” and “non-branded” search at Google is the primary reason why. EVERYTHING Google does is monetized. You might have to scroll 2 or 3 pages through the results before getting to “true” web-crawled results.

Most people as of this year are likely not even scrolling past the AI interpretation of the results.
I’m seeing everywhere from what the algorithm is feeding me that SEO is essentially dead. Not the number one focus anymore. It’s important but not the #1 important thing you can do for your business. Instead they’re starting to push AEO (AI Engine Optimization). The idea that you must make your website/product/etc digestible by AI so it can start recommending you more in that first-page AI results.
With SEO dying… we’re getting bombarded by folks reaching out to us to sell us their SEO services. This is most likely because it’s cheap/easy to do. They point some program at our website, it automatically generates a list of recommendations based on some algorithm and sends it to SEO-paying customers.
It’s getting exhausting closing the daily tickets we’re receiving hawking SEO services.

Agreed, Daniel. Everything moves while we all follow the technology. The extent and involvement of AI in many areas of our daily lives is increasing and amazing, if a little uncontrolled. Many of us will have seen very convincing still images, video clips and prose which is completely false. It has given way to some embryo tools for detecting AI generated content.

While I agree with your viewpoint expressed in your paragraph above, I would say that because AI is in such a fluid state right now, you may yet need to consider and provide some tool with which potential customers viewing your content can use to verify what they are seeing and reading. (I realise that this could be too early to express this particular caveat but the technology is moving much faster than humans can)

Could create a rule that filters them automatically. I don’t see too many tickets coming in with a false positive with these words: Words with SEO | Merriam-Webster

I for one are increasingly often less than interested in going further than the AI offerings. Mostly due to the simple queries they adequately answer. EG how to spell adequately.

& when I do want more info, it’s more productive asking more complex questions. Or translating American English to my local dialect.

Part II

IF we do go Public. The Terms & Conditions will possibly need Upgrading, along with Cookies & Cache etc. Because we might be more visible to Black Hat hackers.

AI just gave me this XYZ Probe – PwnCNC , to a query about XYZ probes

I thought I would post this since it is something that may draw attention to PwnCNC. On Kyle Ely’s Thursday Live Lessons, he announced that he was in the process of creating a new website that would assist someone searching for a new CNC. He said it was still in development, but it was active and could be accessed. It has most of the already established CNCs listed. It is called The CNC Hub. https://thecnchub.com/.

I’ve been working very hard to try and get our catalog of products pulled into Facebook and other similar market place copiers (or whatever they’re called). Sounds like the work is paying off

PwnCNC should absolutely be listed on there… and what’s coming in early September will solidify that fact.

I‘ve just looked @ The CNC Hub. https://thecnchub.com/ . Currently there is no Dominator shown  .

This is a partial screenshot from my Mac Mini on Firefox, in Dark Mode.

As can be unseen, The Cut Area & other values can only be viewed when hilited. Which is a more or less common feature, I’ve noticed on other www sites

I purchased my PwnCNC spindle about 6 months ago for my Onefinity machine. I’m super impressed with both the Onefinity, and PwnCNC components.

Since the initial purchase, I’ve been on the Onefinity forum almost daily. However, I only JUST found out about the PwnCNC forum! Randomly browsing the PwnCNC website.

I am in support of making this forum public so other PwnCNC users, and prospective buyers can benefit from the wealth of knowledge. Especially since a lot of the information has been removed from the Onefinity forum.

I’m so happy I researched the machine before the PwnCNC references were removed from the Onefinity forum or I never would have found such a great product.

JoeW: Thanks for sharing, I appreciate that!

@Daniel I added the Dominator to the website! Find & Compare the Best CNC Router Machines | The CNC Hub However, I am missing some data on it that I could not find on your website. I will reach out to you for that info.

@spotnz Dominator is there now😉 I will look into those issues with the dark mode, thank you for pointing them out!
