Shapeoko 5 Pro retrofit questions

I have a 2 yearold 5 pro which works I am using it to build guitars. I have a Pawncnc 2.2 khz spindle.

What I like about the shapeoko is the tool setter, thats about it. the wiring is absird given I have one of my steppers wrapped in foil tape to stop emi from an outlet 3 fett away ( no my space is limet to move it).

I also would like to use G54.55 wcs for simplicy in muple part machining. I use fusion.

I watched the video and I’m confused about the sensor connectors with your wiring. Is the connector the same?

What steppers are you showing on the machines in your conversions video seem like 3nm. Is there a size image i dont see one.

Are these masso motors?

Do you set the masso up or provide instructions on shapiko 5. The ballscrews as they are not standard screws most normal companies woul use. I tried to find replacement Ball nuts to have on hand. Even shapeoko does not know who makes them.

Cable to connect my Pawncnc spindle to the masso?

Does the Cable chain come with the kit you said it was 50mm on the 5 pro? How long?

I dont see this conversion as difficult unless I have to do the masso setup without instructions.

And again tool setter and XYZ probe. Do i need to replace them or do some wiring. Again tool setter masso intergration setup.

As I understand it, the mounting is the same, but the connectors are not

Yes, they should be, and nema 23 frame size. By the end of it, you’ll have literally removed everything that isn’t the frame, and replaced it.

You’ll need a new cable. With the conversion kit masso comes prewired, and you’ll need a gx12 6 pin to gx12 6 pin

Cable chain is not included but can be added here and here for the z axis

Every installation is going to be different so there are guidelines. Here is a thread to someone elses experience with the the install.

Masso comes prewired and the advanced conversion kit comes with aircraft connectors preinstalled for a simpler installation process.

Replacing would allow you to be up and running faster with a known working setup, but you could repurpose them if following massos instructions depending on how resourceful you are.

I was not worried about wiring as long as cables are long enough. I added all the extras. I wish there was a kit price with all the extras (XYZ, Tool setter and MPG). I realise there are general masso setups, I was hoping you provided machine specif Masso setups. Not much different than Mach 3, maybe easier. Thanks for the code.

Last I knew the wires included for the steppers were plenty. I don’t know how long exactly but last I knew it was over 10’.

Nothing sucks more than a wire that’s 6” too short.

As for bundling, it’s a double edged sword and can be extremely overwhelming

You’re welcome for the code
