I have a Shapeoko 5 Pro 4x4 with the Pwncnc 80mm spindle with air assist. I’ve noticed every time I connect my laptop to my CNC, the spindle starts spinning for a few seconds. Why is that? Is that expected behavior? I’ve never seen anything like it. For context, the cnc and the spindle have their own dedicated circuit. Thanks for your insight!
It’s not an expected behavior, but I’ve seen it myself before. For some reason carbide motion is sending a voltage upon connection to the spindle. It ended when i stopped using carbide motion, which i didn’t use for long.
Theres several, but I used CNCjs. It’ll take some relearning the workflow and use of macros. For example for tool setter, theres a “initial” tool setter macro, then a different macro to adjust from that one. If you really get into it, you can tune the machine to act exactly how you want it to act. For example, I added a tool change location between bit changes.
Neil Ferreri has good macros. His links are on the carbide forum I believe.
I also tried candle, ugs, and gsender
Side note any of these options could create a headache to install and use initially, but it will not be as restrictive as carbide motion, with that its also not as user friendly. But what you lose in user friendliness, you gain customization ability.
