PS: I had the thought that if their red line spindle/VFD was really much better than Daniel’s spindle/VFD, they would not have to delete every occurrence of Daniel’s spindle in their database. I think this rather speaks for Daniel’s spindle/VFD.
DISCLAIMER: I have tested neither the red line nor the PwnCNC spindle/VFDs.
I just had a closer look at both the Onefinity Redline and I already know the PwnCNC DELIXI VFD. What I found is, the redline VFD has its input current rated with 10 A rsp. 12 A which in no case can be enough to drive a 10 A spindle. Remember: The input is single phase, but the spindle output means 10 A PER PHASE, and you have three of them. This is why on the input side of a VFD for a 2.2 kW / 220 V spindle with about 8-11 A current rating, you have 24 A input current rating and fuse needed on the VFD (Omron MX2/Hitachi WJ200) or 27 A (PwnCNC DELIXI EM61).
So I thought this Redline VFD with its 10 A /12 A input current and fuse is really a joke, because it never can drive a 10 A spindle. But then I read at the last page of the Redline manual:
Oh man, they really took the same VFD than Daniel did?
But then they do not know how to dimensionate the fuse properly? Or how to write the correct data on the nameplate? Why not use the values from the DELIXI manual ratings table, when it comes to dimensionating the fuse and printing the nameplate? If you allow only 10 or 12 A single-phase current to enter the VFD, it can never drive a 10 A three-phase spindle with its rated power.
For the single-phase input model of the 2.2 kW 220 V VFD, on the DELIXI VFD manual, it says the same as Daniel’s DELIXI VFD: 27 A input current, 3.8 kVA input power, for 10 A spindle output, for 2.2 kW spindle.
But then Onefinity-Redline write “1500 W 12 A” “2200 W 10 A” or “15 A” on the VFD nameplate / into the Redline manual?
Well, I won’t comment on this any further. Let the interested reader judge for themselves who they can trust when it comes to manufacturing VFD enclosures.
@Aiph5u
I believe you are correct. They used Daniel for his knowledge and sources for spindles and then worked a deal with the supplier to cut him out…very dirty pool.
thank you for the repository… I was just clicking through, and thought to myself… they should have just deleted this one… I mean they might as well have.
Rewriting comments of users on a forum to endorse their own product is absolutely unacceptable on Onefinity’s part, I don’t understand how they could possibly think this is okay to do…
Here you can see another example, this one transforms the intention of the author into nonsense as if it’s an idiot. This is because they also deleted the part “that attaches to the router/spindle […] It will move up and down with the router or spindle. But this has disadvantages too.” They simply make as if I wrote “that you use a dust boot”. This is really nonsense.
Absolutely. But will the community tolerate this, or use a public place in the www to report about this, so that Onefinity learns that it cannot act this way? Remember, it’s not here where it makes sense to complain, since this is a closed forum, and facebook is also a closed community (I am not a member nor will I be, so I cannot see it).
my first idea is always to use one’s own www page. Many people don’t know that they have web space, which means, in fact space where you can upload things using FTP that appear on the web, this is your home page then. Usually nowadays people believe that in order to publish someting, they need inst*gram or yout*be or go*gle drive etc, but usually when you have DSL, you also have some web space. You can configure it by logging in at your DSL provider and configure a (S)FTP password. With a FTP program, you can then upload files, e.g. web pages (HTML files) (you usually don’t have web space if you only have mobile access, i.e. a SIM card). And then if your web pages are online, it’s according to your robots.txt that your pages are found and listed in search results of the search engines. External links on highly visited web pages, pointing to your page, may then make their ranking higher.
My instinct says I should write an article, a blog page if you want, and tell the story of Daniel’s plug-and-play VFD enclosure, a revolutionary idea to make upgrading to a spindle an easy, plug-and-play task for the many hobbyist CNC owners that arose in the last twenty years, with no need to hire an electrician or electrical engineer to design and build a VFD control cabinet in order to be able to run a spindle. And then the story of how Onefinity behaved then, when they realized they could easily use Daniel’s experience and knowledge to make their clone of it and then to manipulate their forum users database to let it appear as if Daniel never existed, in order to earn all the money alone.
But hélas this would be one of the thousand things I’d like to do at the moment, of which the most are left undone because I have so severe health issues. I just was in hospital for many weeks, still at home I have many treatments a week, and I sometimes rather think how much time have I left instead of asking myself what thousand things I will be able to do in life. And additionally, I hope to move away from a place where I can have no good studio and no good workshop, but it is difficult to find a place in my region at the moment, and I’ll have to stay in this region because of the jobs that members of my family have here.
So if someone else would do something, it would give me the good feeling that it’s not me who is the only one that could do something
A topic that is unlisted will have an icon next to the title that looks like an eye with a slash through it. I hovered over it and got a tool-tip which explained what it means.
Very interesting. I sure hope Onefinity steps up and doesn’t just sweep this under the rug by restoring some of the blatant posts. They need to admit to the oversight in order to build back some respect in my opinion.
I decided to send a lengthy FB message a few hours ago directly to the CEO at Onefinity, and included a few examples including the one you mentioned that was now remedied.
Thanks for the tip @Aiph5u. Once I saw Onefinity was modifying my content I went through and deleted most of my posts there. I did this so that Onefinity couldn’t manipulate my words in the eyes of the community. I also decided that I would not contribute to the community any more.
My CNC is a collection of parts from vendors each with their own community. Controllers, steppers, and sensors from Masso, spindle, ATC, tool holders, collets, and cooling system from PwnCNC, and then the X, Y, and Z rails from Onefinity. The configurable components have their own communities. Therefore, I’m participating in their communities. That means this one and Masso’s forums. I expect that the non-configurable components, Onefinity’s X, Y, and Z-rails, won’t require discussion.
I’m happy to have found like minded CNCers in this topic and I look forward to seeing this community grow. For my part I’ll keep an eye out for topics with no replies or no answers and try to chip in. Even if I don’t know the answer I can sometimes reply to affirm the question or let the community member know they are heard and keep the topic near the top of the latest list.
