Rapid Change has been around for a while, and your concern is one of the many that we had for choosing to ultimately go the route we did.

Hey all,

I own the Mechatron HFS-8022-24-ER20 because I cannot afford the Mechatron ATC-8022-HSK25 (≈€6700) at the moment, and my point of view is, as long as I cannot afford it, I have no ATC.

I don’t consider less expensive true ATC spindles like the Jianken JGL-80/2.2R24-20 ATC or PwnCNC’s ATC spindle, because there are so many excellent German spindle manufacturers I simply would’t want a “Made in PRC” spindle.

There are not so many things left that are produced in my country, despite the fact that they were invented here, like the the first electric car, the first telephone, or the first computer. I am happy that again there is a German computer motherboard manufacturer (Kontron, the successor of the Fujitsu-Siemens factory), so that I can build my LinuxCNC-based CNC controller with a motherboard made in my country.

Considering the early development stage of my professional project, manual tool change is not the badest thing

Anyway since the advent of RapidChange ATC I know there is an application for counter-clockwise spindle rotation
