So I have recently converted my S5P to the MASSO thanks to pwnCNC. Also thanks to a couple members of this forum for answering all my questions.
Recently having an issue where MASSO is not carving where it has been. Meaning, I have a multicolor epoxy project. Before I started any of this I created some setup blocks on my left Y axis and then cut them with my bit so I know they are parallel to my machine.
So when I started this project I have done three layers and I am on my fourth. All three previous layers have had no issues. I had stops on all 4 sides so I knew that the board was set in the exact same location each time.
Now when I am trying this last layer , it is off. So what have I done so far to try and figure it out?
Homed the machine again
Set zero from the same origin again
Validated the file in vectric has not shifted at all.
Recalculated toolpaths
Saved a new file with a new name.
Using Masso Arcs mm as the post processor
The only changes that I have done inside of vectric is that I deleted my old tool library and reloaded the bits that I actually have. Would this cause this issue?
The conversion kit has closed-loop steppers, however that doesn’t matter if the couplers are loose.
I’d start with that first.
Next have you ran through their calibration wizard? Since you’ve done 3 layers so far i wouldn’t think this is an issue but never know.
The couplers are the first thing i can think of. Those things are finicky when they’re worn from an older machine (They’re finicky on the ball-screw assemblies i pre-assemble for the Dominators i’me doing weekly. This is why it’s top-of-mind for me.). Potentially use some blue locktite to interface between the screw and the coupler for additional help holding it in place.
Next would be the other mechanical parts of the machine.
Also can you describe a bit more what you mean by “it is off”?
Perhaps others will have ideas. Also any chance of sharing some photos of the issue and of the machanics of the machine could give someone a clue.
