Introducing PwnZ: A New Z-Carriage for Onefinity CNC Machines

Hey everyone,

I’ve been working on a new upgrade for Onefinity owners, and it’s ready to introduce: PwnZ.

PwnZ is based on the Z-carriage design we use on our Dominator Pro, adapted for Onefinity machines with 8.7″ of Z travel.

We’re opening a small initial preorder while the first batch of components is being manufactured. I wanted to share what we’re building and be clear about where the project stands.

The first production run

I’ve ordered the aluminum plates and linear components for six carriages. One will stay here for assembly, fit checks, and operational testing. The other five are available for preorder.

Although the underlying design comes from our Dominator Pro, this Onefinity adaptation hasn’t completed physical testing yet. These early orders help fund the first production run as we work through that process.

Pricing and spindle mount choices

The carriage-only prelaunch price is $599, with a planned regular price of $649.

You can order without a spindle mount or add:

  • A single 65mm spindle mount

  • A single 80mm spindle mount

  • Dual 80mm spindle mounts

When purchased with PwnZ, the mounts receive a 20% bundle discount.

Which Onefinity machines will it fit?

The design fits the first-generation Onefinity platform, with final testing of the assembled carriage still ahead.

I also expect it to fit second-generation machines, but I haven’t had a Gen 2 here to physically verify that. If you’re interested in one for a second-generation machine, please contact me before ordering so we can discuss your setup.

When will preorders ship?

The earliest anticipated shipping window is November 29–December 13, 2026, approximately six to eight weeks from this announcement.

That timing allows for component delivery, assembly, and testing. If we discover something that requires a revised or additional part, the manufacturing time for that part could push shipping beyond this window. Please keep that possibility in mind when deciding whether an early preorder is right for you.

The launch image is a Fusion CAD rendering of the carriage without spindle mounts. Final details may change as we complete testing.

Questions are welcome here in the thread. Let me know which Onefinity you’re running and what spindle or mounting configuration you’re considering.

Couple general questions:

Does it have different mounting heights on the X carriage? Currently I have the carriage and spindle mounted low since my tool setter is mounted right about table height and my spoilboard surface is basically flush with the bottom of the feet. I like the idea of dual spindle mounts so its not a single pivot point.

Does it use the stock stepper?

Does it use the stock homing sensor?

Whats the clearance between the spindle and the lower support bearing for the ball screw?

It would not be wise to size it for more or less than a Nema23 motor since thats where, generally speaking, the market is.

Good questions! The PwnZ has four vertical mounting positions on the X carriage, allowing up to 2.7″ of vertical adjustment, separate from its 8.7″ of Z travel. That gives you flexibility to mount it lower for a setup like yours, though I’ll need to confirm the exact reach relative to your spoilboard and toolsetter.

It also supports dual spindle mounts, so you can secure the spindle at two vertically spaced points.

The stepper motor and spindle mounts are sold separately. When you purchase spindle mount(s) together with the PwnZ, the mounts automatically receive a 20% discount.

Which Onefinity model and controller do you have? That will help me confirm whether your existing stepper and homing sensor can transfer over. The PwnZ includes a Z-prox switch mount.

I’ll also check the spindle-to-lower-ballscrew-support clearance. Are you running a 65mm or 80mm spindle?

I am using the Masso Elite Foreman

They do use optical switches on the Elite. And while i don’t have it ready right now, mounting those will be solved by the time the PwnZ ships.

We offer optical switches with the 1f conversion kit.
So if you’ve got an elite… adding the PwnZ will be pretty much straight forward.
You’ll need to recalibrate the Z axis using their wizard… and increase the travel… but aside from that it should work just fine.

Gotcha so I can swap over the stepper as well?

Oh I also forgot I have an 80mm spindle for measuring the ball screw support clearance.

Yes correct. The catch will be ensuring the Z stepper cable is long enough to reach since the PwnZ is much taller than the stock Z-20
