Onefinity owner and still very inexperienced. Bought a Mechatron 2.2kW 220v spindle before PwnCNC was so well-established. Had some rough experiences, and am interested in your opinions on whether/why PwnCNC will be a better choice. Even my assumptions (below) need critical comments:
Purpose #1 is to engrave brass for clock dials. Purpose #2 is to enhance traditional woodworking with abilities unique to CNCs.
Avoiding Chinese spindles. Had read that both quality and ease of using owners’ manuals is a problem. Instead bought Mechatron 2.2kW water-cooled spindle (Germany).
Brass dust fouled the bearings. Shipping to Germany took months complicated by customs, tariffs and (a little by) language. Cost to repair was 50% of the original price, and they installed ‘purge air’ port. Does PwCNC have that too?).
I haven’t taken the plunge to a Masso controller, because I can’t yet see the benefit to my purposes.
TL/DR: I have a working (rebuilt) Mechatron spindle and want to engrave brass. If/when I have my next catastrophe, is PwCNC a smarter choice than a European spindle? Which PwCNC choices are appropriate to my purposes?
Sounds cool. Woodworking tools can be used with non-ferros metals such as brass.
water cooled sounds like the way to go
We do not to the best of my knowledge as the water cooled don’t have air at all, and the only air is created from the rotation of the bit/nut, but if you’re close enough to feel it, you’re too close.
As far as downtime involved I would say yes we’re worth it since we are a domestic distributor and have an attentive staff, and our Motors come with a 6 month warranty and based on our experience after 3 months of regular usage the chances of a mechanical failure are drastically reduced
Interesting post. I suppose that many would think that German kit is from the highest quality tier. I considered changing my machine for Stepcraft and their tie in to Mafell and numerous others. In the end, having put off (for 2 years) buying a spindle/VFD because of the issues likely with connections and parts quality, I decided to go with PwnCNC.
This was based on nothing more than it was a plug and play system and the feedback I saw on various tutorials inspired confidence. The company have brilliant customer service and all of my pre-sale questions were answered well. I now have a fully working 2.2kw air cooled spindle/VFD and V7 dustboot. It worked immediately in manual and automatic mode and the high quality is very obvious.
In spindle/VFD and support terms, you probably will not find a better company to deal with than PwnCNC. Your specific requirements are not unheard of and I have no doubt that the folks at PwnCNC can get you up and running. Discuss your needs with the people who work with Masso and a whole slew of machinery control systems. I bought my CNC machine in 2020 and PwnCNC advised me about my requirements. I would not hesitate to recomend them to anyone.

Daniel and team do so much to ensure their customers have the best experience possible. Much of Onefinity’s success they owe to him for councel, guidance, and support.
The key differentiator is you will NEVER deal with them for support, we provide all support in-house. If we have to engage with the manufacturer we will directly, this includes for manufacturers warranty.
We ensure the customer is taken care of first on the front-end, then on the backend we’ll engage with the manufacturer to ensure warranties are honored and such.
Another advantage we have is the amount of pull we have with GPenny. On multiple occasions they have designed motor design changes, some of which are exclusively sold through PwnCNC.
