Favorite Projects?

I went thru a ‘radio phase’ after I got my first CNC (an X-Carve). This has probably been my favorite project in terms of creativeness. I designed the radio after looking at various other cathedral style radios. Made from Corian & oak, with a little digital FM radio module.

Wow! I did not know you make radios also!
I am a big radio fan, from earliest childhood on. I built my first as a child. I use both big analog radios as well as small modern dab+ radios. I once also had a few historic tube radios.

Once I had a historic gigantic Telefunken stereo tube radio, of course of beautiful wood, that really had an automatic channel search, the first of its kind, and entirely mechanical/electrical! When you turned the big knob a little bit, you felt a little trembling, in either direction. That was stronger the more you attempted to turn the knob, and prevented that you could turn it. And when you turned it a little further, it gave you bigger resistance with its trembling, and just one little bit further, suddenly the knob ran loose and started to turn by its own! And it only stopped again when the green magic eye tube had found another radio station, and it tuned in perfectly.

Yeah, I’m also a radio lover! I’ve built 4 different ones using that same (junky) little digital radio module.

I also have a fondness of old tube radios, just something fascinating about them.

Hey Bill, hey all,

sorry, but I can’t resist. This man has such presence, it’s incredible. How he controls half a million people, and they indulge him, and they give it to him. And I have to cry. It’s about Radio.

Of course it’s important to memorize the entire act:
Unforgettable the two bobby who said, there was a complaint about noise… from a woman in Belgium…

Do you remember? The bands had no sound check, no rehearsal, only four pieces were allowed, of total twenty minutes, and they had to use the drumkit and the piano that was there. And then being so professional.

Yes, excerpts!! Man is he phänomenal, Rami Malek.

But I really devoured all seasons of Mr. Robot!!! Man is he talented and man do i like that series.

I find that it is totally okay to use a modern FM or DAB+ pcb and put it into such a wooden cathedral. You want good sound and good signal reception, after all. However what I already started as a child, and am doing until nowadays, is electronics, and among that, worked with tubes (valves). I already made a few people very happy with an amp from my manufacturing. Did that already with 18. But transistor amps too.

You should do more of these which look like from a Mr. Poirot movie.

My latest two builds, since we’re sharing. Some amazing work in this thread from everyone.
