This is still an ongoing experiment to find the perfect statically mounted ATC dust boot design. Something we could potentially give away as a free gift with ATC purchases.
This design is actually inspired by some my 20yr old Rigid shopvac attachment and painters tape:
Point being… you never know where inspiration will come from. In this case, i was standing there cleaning up dust mid-carve and held the attachment up against the bit. It did a pretty decent job at collecting the dust. A bit of painters tape and an idea was born.
This style of boot is NOT for every kind of carve. This works 90% well on the finishing passes of a 3d carve… but likely would only be 30% efficient at a roughing pass.
It is impossible to have a single boot design that fits all carving needs. However it shouldn’t stop us from trying to find a design that fits “most” carving needs.
