Hey everyone, I’m working on a dust boot solution for the Dominator and want to gather some insights from the group, from real users, the current processes they have and where there may be opportunities to improve the workflow through a few different accessories.
If you’ve got 2 minutes, these quick polls would be a huge help. The more responses the better!
Do you have an ATC (automatic tool change) spindle on your Dominator Pro?
- Yes, ATC spindle
- No, manual tool change spindle
- No, but I’m planning to add ATC
What tool holders do you use now, if you use an ATC?
- Cylinder style tool holders
- Fork tool holders
- Manually change the tools with the MTC
Would a solution that allowed the tool holders to not take up any of the cutting area interest you?
- Yes! I need that in my shop.
- Maybe, I would have to think bout it.
- No, I have enough real-estate to place permeant tool holders in.
What dust collection setup are you currently running on your Dominator Pro?
- PWNcnc dust boot
- Third-party dust boot
- DIY / custom dust boot
- No dust collection at all
If you have ATC, how do you currently handle the dust boot during tool changes?
- I remove the dust boot manually before running ATC jobs
- My dust boot stays on and I work around it (limited tool lengths, careful clearances)
- I built or bought a boot that retracts or moves out of the way
- I just don’t use a dust boot on ATC jobs
- I use the MTC button
How interested would you be in a motorized dust boot that automatically raises to clear the ATC and lowers for cutting — triggered by your Masso’s M8/M9 commands with no manual intervention?
- Very interested, I need this
- Interested, would like to learn more
- Mildly curious
- Not interested
What would you consider a fair price for a complete auto-retracting dust boot system (controller, motor, hardware, plug-and-play wiring for Masso)?
- $300–$400
- $400–$500
- Over $500
Measured from the bottom of your ISO 20 tool holder (or collet nut), what is the longest tool you regularly use?
- under 2 inches
- 2-3 inches
- 3-4 inches
- Over 4 inches
