Something that’s been on my todo list since i started researching masso.

20/2 wire.
I already had the relay and power supply from my ventures of creating a brake.

I like it. I used to do this with a cross hair on a digital microscope
Nice work.
Very nice. But I want to know what contraptions you’re creating with the other 3 laser modules. ![]()
Can you share the STL/STEP for the mount?
Theyre collecting dust. I’ll dm you the laser holder on Facebook because i can’t upload it here
@Chris , Any chance you can link the laser and power supply you used? I have used a battery operated setup previously but now I want to connect it to the relay so it activates when dry run is turned on.
I think this is it, but I’m not 100%
Extremely DIY!
The laser is only 3-5v but I had other devices that required 24v, so I got a 5v buck converter, and it looks like this: Amazon.com: DC 12V 24V to 5V 3A Converter DC Voltage Reducer Regulator Step Down Buck Converter Power Supply Volt Transformer Module : Electronics
The power supply, there’s nothing special about it, it was just a 24v power supply like this, but not exactly this one… Amazon.com: Mean Well LRS-100-24 Switching Power Supply, Single Output, 24V, 4.5A, 108W, 5.08" L x 3.82" W x 1.18" H : Electronics
Don’t forget about your fuse, fuse holder, switch, and power supply enclosure as well as any easy quick disconnects you’d like.
The dry run functionality is really awesome, and I use it on most projects.
Chris, thanks for the info. Going to be nice to have one more thing automated.
I’m still trying to think of something to do for the aux input/output but can’t think of anything useful.
If you think of something, let me know.
I don’t have iVac and have no intentions either which is what the example is in the masso docs
Will do. My dust collection for the whole shop is on mybproject list but for now I’m stuck with the shop vac and dust deputy!
If you don’t mind soldering, I’d like to share another idea for powering low wattage devices like LASER pointers and spindle lights. Rather than a relay and a power supply I’m using a buck converter with an enable pin. I got 10 of the little boards for $13. I’m using one set to 4.5V to power an LED spindle light and another set to 3.0V to power a LASER pointer.
Unfortunately these little boards solder the On/Off pin of the LM2596 directly to ground, but it isn’t too difficult to lift the pin and attach a wire for the Masso to drive. The Masso specs the max TTL output current at 5 mA. The max On/Off input current (output from the Masso) is 0.015 mA, well below the Masso’s max spec.
