Drag Chains for ATC

Just making some new drag chains for the atc.

This is the y axis

This is the x axis, just testing clearance. Still printing brackets at this point.

Everything seems to be pretty stiff but waiting on drag chain delivery to be sure. The two images below were the design files for the project

Wow, you can land an f15 there.

Lots of lines going in there. Better big than too small…

That’s going to be a great setup!

Thanks I spent today laying out the lines and double checking clearances. Hope those dragchains aren’t too heavy…not room for a lot of sag the way I’ve set it up…but I have a lot of filament.

The original chains from onefinity are 15 x 20, the chain you see in this photo is a 18 x 37 it is on the x axis. It could possibly carry everything but it would be a stretch at best. I put this on to test length and flex. I’m pretty sure I’ll need to add a z axis chain to control all the lines from becoming snagged…

Yeah, i don’t like the connections at the motor either and am still playing with it, trying out a sleeve wrap right now

Sleeve wrap sounds like a good solution. Let me know how that plays out for you

By the way ATC arriving this coming Tuesday. Same day as new cable chains, so I’ll be able to try a permanent installation at that time. I’m going to ignore dust collection at first, then work a solution for that.

So far it’s working out. I had to add the zip tie to keep it close to the hose, but it appears to be keeping things together. If i didn’t have it zip tied it would put move in a way you strain the connections

Where are you running all those airlines and water lines?

Oh, i see them now on the 4" hose…

You need a vertical drag chain.

The connector wires are still pretty long. I don’t think that solution would work well

At this point, i can tell you for sure that drag chains are a drag…
I felt like I needed three hands to get it done. Not finished yet. Having to reprint bracket system as i have changed my drag chain sizes. Bending radius is a critical part of this design…

Not if you’d have bought these while still available:

25x77mm internal, best price I was able to find anywhere, other than getting samples from Alibaba.

Fully closed, plates come off easily by hand on either side.

Yes , I tried those…when i received them the plates had quite a few broken off ears. I think they were packaged poorly. I returned them. I downloaded Ugly Dogs brackets and modified them to fit my situation. Just not happy yet.
