This is an enhancement to the x axis rail. It was printed in TPU and has an inner channel that houses a cord that passes oil onto the rails as they traverse. The oil is part of the lube system and i intend to install these on all three rails. The 35mm rails will follow as time allows…i loaded it manually with oil and ran the x axis, it was spectacular.
This shows the cord for distributing the oil. Parts are tacked with hot melt glue for the present, but may work in a small magnet to attach to the bearing, but undecided on this.
Well TPU is not the simplest material to work with, lots of stringing…on a more positive note. I have been running the axis with just the intial charge of oil and now I’m considering a small container on top of the z carriage and just letting gravity do the work of providing the lube. The cord does an excellent job of distribution and no signs of dripping off the rails. When I’m up and running with lots of dust I’ll weigh in on the true function of this as a product.
Checkout hubs.com few years back i was using them for some special projects… they do print in TPU. Might be a good idea to source those particular parts from them.
