VFD Speeds not matching Gsender Control

Hey Everyone,

Is there a way to calibrate the VFD so when my controller says it’s running at 20k the VFD will actually run the motor at 20k? There seems to be a discrepancy now.

@Daniel I’m sure you have a way to get the programmed speeds to match the actual VFD speeds?

Need more information but…

First PWM is done by sending a voltage from the controller to the vfd, the vfd then interprets that voltage and translates it to a hertz value which translates to rpm. Pwm is the easiest to troubleshoot, but there’s a buffer of what is commanded and what is recieved. Tolerable ranges are 1-2% but it could be a few outside that range.

If you have the pwm converter, you can and should tweak the potentiometer in the black box on the wire.

If you have a pwm controller be it 5v or 10v, there’s a parameter that can be tweaked, but you’ll need to get the max voltage sent from the controller. Theoretically this could minimize it, but it’s largely unlikely to be successful because a difference of a couple hundredth of volt isn’t going to make a difference. If you have a 10v controller, you’re more likely to be successful.

If you have modbus, to my knowledge and based on what i know about its communication, theres nothing to adjust.

Thank you,

I am stepping away from this issue for today. I will be back on it on Monday.

Thanks again

@Chris I am running a Shapeoko 5 Pro with stock controller and Gsender for the control software. We were able to tweak the max and min RPMs in Gsender to get it a little closer. Still not dead on max 24000. Only getting 23625

You can check the voltage output at max commanded of the controller and set that for p2015, but your only 1.5% off

I must caution you on making changes could have adverse reactions if changing something you don’t know what it does. Always make a note of what it was

Then you Chris. Do you have a pin layout for the warthog pigtail so I know which pin to check for voltage on?

It’ll be opposite (the left is the right and vice versa) but there’s only 2 wires wired. Pwm and ground. Should also be able to check at the source where the wires meet the board.
