Clamping systems

I am using a 4x8 Laguna smartshop with vacuum table and am hoping to find a solution to clamping down material. I have found that even with my 3/4 MDF spoil board that the vacuum isn’t strong enough to hold down a full sheet of plywood and it ends up moving. At the moment I’ve just been placing screws into the sheet to connect it to the MDF spoil board.

The second thing we do a lot of is flattening slabs or smaller 20x20 cutting boards and the vacuum again isn’t strong enough to hold the wood in place.

Does anyone have any suggestions for clamping systems used for these two different projects? Thank you

Hello, I do a lot of 3d carving and absolutely love the CA Glue method. Posted a video on it recently.
I’ve also come up with a variety of clamping options on the website. I’ve also found adding dog holes to your bed opens up even more clamping options from Rockler and others.

All the above really relates to smaller pieces. In most larger places, the vacuum bed is the desired otpion.

Is it possible to modify the vacuum bed? Does it have zones that you can enable/disable? I’ve seen this often with beds like this. Either seal or cut-off valves on larger beds so you have more of a zoned suction.

Another option might be for the slabs… have a solid fence you can have pushing style clamps.
Perhaps something like this + a fence: https://www.rockler.com/rockler-auto-lock-t-track-clamp

If money is no issue, check out Jace’s Airweights vacuum solutions…they are amazing. I’ve never had an issue with stock moving.
