We built the V10 dust boot at our Makerspace. It was a team effort and I did the installation. I had a question about the hose collar. Looking at the photo below do we have the collar backwards? Should the narrower section, circled in blue, be pointed downwards, to help prevent the magnetic coupler from shearing off? Thanks!
After a more careful review of the assembly video we realize that the collar is indeed installed backwards. This Topic can now be closed.
Hello, Yes that “MagRound” is on backwards. But careful study would show that these MagRounds can actually have the MagRing glued on either end. The way it is pictured, the MagRound acts as a female connection, whereas gluing the MagRing on the end circled in blue would make it a male connection and is what’s recommended for plugging into the v10 dust boot.
The smaller-diameter part helps prevent shear disconnections.
