Dominator Core Assembly

Picked up the Dominator core yesterday. Did not have time to start assembly.

Got the cross bars installed, made sure the frame was perfectly square, corner to corner measurements. X carriage slides perfectly on the linear rails. front of x carriage taps together.

Went to slide the X carriage into the ball screw carriers, one side slid right in no issues. the left side i cant say the same. I had to move the X carriage to the middle where there was enough flex to get the parts to align. this caused binding at the front and rear. took the screws out of the carriage on that side. the X carriage no longer aligns with the linear bearings, but slides on the ball screws.

Not sure what I am missing. feels like the X carriage may be too long, or the bottom rails too short.

It may be something I am doing wrong as there appears to be no dominator core assembly manual, at least not one I could find.

As a Dominator Pro owner and having faced issues as a result of poor assembly documentation, I would recommend that you contact PwnCNC with this. Last fall, Daniel took the time to contact me and walk me through the steps that had not been documented yet so I could get my CNC up and running.

I did, With the Pro at least there are instructions and videos. I dont see either for the Core.

Yes there are some assembly instructions for the pro. More now than this past fall. Also some assembly videos since I received my CNC have been released. But even though the assembly manual has been updated, it is still not finished. Several “Coming Soon” Sections. Daniel has assured me he is working on the documentation for all his CNCs. But Daniel has a lot going on and documentation is slow in coming out.

I clearly understand your frustration.

I will never forget how upset and disappointed I was when I had very little information to assemble. I have to admit, when you posted that no assembly manual was part of your shipment and that you couldn’t find one, I was floored.

Have you posted on the PwnCNC Users group Facebook page? Maybe another Core owner there will see your post and could help you out.

I didn’t post there yet. I have it 90% assembled. A few things were missed. However, the frame is done, but I still have the binding issue. So I left one side of the rails loose to avoid damaging the carriers. The only assembly instructions I got were for the Z Chain upgrade. All the rest I have done off of photos, which there are decidedly few to go from. I have all the wiring and cooling through the chains. Waiting on my mount for the Masso so I can complete the wiring.

I thought your issue may have come before what’s currently out. Thanks for reaching out.

Some core specific instructions were just published.

Thanks for the comment. That is essentially what I did(based off of photos of the machine and pausing Youtube clips and previous experiences with 3d printers.) Wish it would have went together so easily, but Scott and Daniel are working on taking care of this. Glad these are up for the next guy, it was very frustrating that there was nothing previously.

I understand, and I’m sure it wasn’t intended but its a small crew keeping the PwnCNC machine running. When I was with the company, I was the guy that did the documenting, but we had to go our separate ways. Obviously it wasn’t a bad break up because I’m still here helping where I can.
